Back from the dead, foosball is making a comeback

Sweat drips down Chris Marks' forehead as he leans over the foosball table. Mouth slightly open, right hand delicately turning the rod handle, the 26-year-old German insurance broker is a portrait in concentration.

Back and forth. Back and forth. Marks gracefully passes the polyurethane ball up and down the line, from one yellow plastic man to the next, looking for an opening as his opponent nervously wiggles his two defensive rods.

Not that it matters. Marks is simply biding his time.

One quick flip of the wrist and it's over, the ball moving so fast you don't actually see it. The ball makes a tinny "thwack" as it hits the back of the goal.

Marks celebrates with a triumphant "whoop." Arms raised, he flips the final bead across the scoreboard, digs into his nearby backpack and takes a slug of Gatorade as he pulls off his yellow-tinted sunglasses and wipes his brow.

New advances in liposuction can give the look you want

If you've tried dieting and exercise and you're still not satisfied with the contour of your figure, liposuction can help you achieve your goal.

Liposuction is not intended as a way to lose weight. However, if you are close to your ideal body weight and have areas of excess fat that are resistant to diet and exercise, liposuction can be a safe way to contour your body.

The newest tool available for body sculpting and contouring is Vaser Lipo Selection. Ultrasonic waves liquefy and fracture unwanted fat deposits that are then removed through suction and massage. This leaves the nerves, blood vessels and connective tissue intact.

Compared to traditional approaches, Vaser uses a more efficient probe that applies sound energy. The area to be sculpted is filled with a special saline solution that helps numb the site and shrink the blood vessels to minimize blood loss and reduce bruising.

Goldeneye retreat to get facelift

Goldeneye, the scenic rural retreat in eastern Jamaica where British author Ian Fleming created the James Bond character that spawned dozens of novels and films, is getting a facelift.

Work begins in June on 82 villas, cottages and suites at the 40-hectare property overlooking a harbour in St Mary parish, Jason Henzell, president of luxury hotelier Island Outpost, said.

Henzell said Goldeneye's current owner, media mogul Chris Blackwell - who is also the owner of Island Outpost - wanted to use the property for tourism.

"He wants to develop a new niche in Jamaica called residential tourism, where people buy land, visit and ultimately promote the island," he said.

He declined to comment on the project's cost.

Fleming bought Goldeneye in the mid-1940s when it spanned just 16 hectares, and wrote several books there.

(AFX UK Focus) 2007-01-21 01:11 GMT: Implant factory adjusts to silicone rule

IRVING, Texas (AFX) - In many spots, the factory looks like an especially clean industrial kitchen. Workers are covered from head to toe in surgical scrubs. Stacked on stainless steel rolling trays are mounds of various sizes and shapes, all resembling risen pizza dough.

Mentor Corp. has its global manufacturing operations at this 145,000 square-foot factory that is home to the nation's only breast implant manufacturing facility and anecdotally known as one of the augmentation capitals of the United States.

The recent FDA approval of silicone-gel implants -- ending a 14-year virtual ban -- has far-reaching ramifications in Texas. All made-in-the-U.S.A. breast implants begin here, the starting point for nearly a quarter million breast augmentation surgeries a year.

The daily grind of making implants might not change much -- but what workers are doing here will affect hundreds of thousands of women a year.

Outpouring of support continues for Jessica

Central New York angels answered the call for Jessica Musone's need to have surgery to remove a tumor from her face.

The 13-year-old Syracuse girl has the genetic disorder neurofibromatosis, and insurance has not paid the majority of a two-part, $50,000 surgery. But the surgeon has agreed to waive at least $6,000 still owed on the first surgery, and the insurer is re-evaluating how much it will pay for the second.

Here's a look at some other sources of help, according to Jessica's mother, Tammy Musone:

Dr. Enrique Armenta, who has an office in Syracuse, offered to perform Jessica's needed future cosmetic surgeries free.

Dr. Robert Dracker, who has an office in Liverpool, offered to pay a large portion of the balance of the second surgery through Charity for Children, based in Cicero.
