CHEVY CHASE, Md. -- Sick of vowing to lose weight at the beginning of each year? Want to take the easy way out with liposuction? You may want to know the possible consequences before you go under the knife. Avid runner Debbie Kubiet had liposuction to smooth out some trouble spots and, in the process, got a little more than she bargained for. Six months after liposuction, Kubiet's bra size grew from a 34B to 36C. "I woke up one day, and it was like, 'My bras don't fit correctly,'" said Kubiet of her experience. When she told Eric Finzi M.D., Ph.D., about her breasts, he revealed she wasn't alone. In fact, Dr. Finzi, a dermasurgeon at the Chevy Chase Cosmetic Center in Chevy Chase, Maryland, published a study revealing significant breast enhancement naturally occurs in 43 percent of women who undergo liposuction.

Choice between silicone, saline implants is still not easy to make
After 14 years, women who want to surgically add more curves to their figures again have a choice: saline or silicone. However, those who opt for the newly approved silicone breast implants may find their choice is padded in confusion, frustration and added costs. Recently, the Food and Drug Administration lifted its ban on silicone gel implants, dismissing concerns about harmful effects from leaks as unsupported by extensive testing. But the agency, along with manufacturers of the implants, urged women to undergo a special magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) every couple of years "over a woman's lifetime" to detect ruptures. The series of MRIs could cost women $10,000 in the first 10 years, on top of the costs of the original cosmetic surgery, usually $5,000 to $8,000.
Extra Large Gummy Bears
LOS ANGELES – February 1st, 2007 – Mention the words, Gummy Bears, and visions of sugarplums may dance in your head. That is, if you are thinking of the traditional meaning of the words, gummy bears, as in ‘sweet stuff'. There is however, a new genre of bears, so to speak, that has surfaced in the plastic surgery industry. Pretty sweet actually. They are the new cohesive breast implants that are all the rage, especially to women who refuse to submit their bodies to saline implants. Speaking of dancing, there are thousands of ‘professional dancers' aka adult entertainers, that find this device especially tantalizing. After all, their livelihood depends upon the soft curves and supple breasts that keep customers coming back for more. Silicone breast implants have been around for years, but the new, cohesive state-of-the art implants, fondly known as Gummies, have entered the playing field.
